Running a meet and recording results

Setting up a competition day, entering results in bulk, and letting guests enter without an account.

A meet is a competition day. It belongs to the club rather than to one sport, so a combined-events day with track and field on the same afternoon is one meet, not two.

  1. Create the meet with its date and venue.
  2. Add its events. Each can be scoped to a sport, group or discipline, and can carry a capacity.
  3. Take reservations. Once an event is full, further entries go on a waitlist and are promoted automatically if someone withdraws.
  4. After the day, enter results using the grid — it is built for entering a whole event at once rather than one athlete at a time.

Disciplines decide how results are read

Each discipline carries a scoring type, a unit, and a direction — whether a higher or lower number is better. That direction is what lets the same engine handle a 100m time and a javelin distance without you telling it which way round to sort.

Set the direction correctly when you create a discipline. If a timed event is set to higher-is-better, every personal best it calculates will be the athlete's worst result, and the error is not obvious until someone notices their PB going backwards.

Guests without accounts

For open meets, you can share a token link that lets athletes from other clubs enter themselves at /join, and a matching link that publishes results at /results. Neither requires an account. Rotating the token revokes the old link.

The results engine is a Pro feature.
